A Balance Sheet by customer breaks your balances into a column per customer, most useful for seeing Accounts Receivable, customer deposits, and prepayments tied to each client in one view.

Steps
- Open the Balance Sheet report
Go to Reports and, under Business overview, select "Balance Sheet," then set your as-of date.

- Set "Display columns by" to Customer
Open the "Display columns by" dropdown and choose Customer. QuickBooks adds a column per customer, with sub-customers grouped under their parent.

- Review the customer columns
Read across Accounts Receivable and any deposit or prepayment accounts to see the balance tied to each customer. Accounts that aren't customer-specific (like bank or fixed-asset accounts) show under the unassigned column.
